General Description
These handy adapters allow you to quickly and easily connect a DB9 connector onto a breadboard / perf board circuit. By itself, the connector pin spacing does not lend itself to breadboard or perfboard use, but this adapter makes it very easy. Each pin is brought out to the 10-pin single-row header on the bottom of the board; the single-row header can easily be inserted into a breadboard or perfboard. This design allows the adapter to be placed on the edge of a breadboard, keeping cables and connections out of the middle of the breadboard where you are working. The pins are arranged in numerical order, and each is clearly labeled with its pin number.
Adapters are available with both male and female DB9 connectors. Among other applications, these adapters are useful for breadboarding serial circuits since the DB9 connector is often used for serial connections. We offer these breadboard adapters with other styles of connectors as well. Have one of each in your tool box!
Technically, the correct term for a DB9 connector is DE9, but that term is not commonly used.
